Certified Mindfulness Teacher
I am a certified mindfulness teacher (350-Hour Mindfulness Northwest in Bellingham, WA, USA), and founder of Mindful Moments LLC. From 2019 to 2020, I also completed a 9-month monastic training residency at Gampo Abbey, the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery in North America.
I have been teaching meditation since 2015. My focus is on relieving stress and anxiety through the experiential process of mindfulness or being attentive to our present moment experience with clarity, kindness, and nonjudgement.
This concept of presence is central to relieving stress and anxiety, along with many other strong emotions and mental afflictions. It does take much to notice how NOT in the present moment we are, and that so many of the thoughts that we do have are incredibly unhelpful. This leads us to realize that anxiety is largely driven by excessive thinking about the future and that depression and regret are exacerbated by rumination over that past.
The good news: there are very clear, tried-and-true instructions for training in how to be present. This is mindfulness meditation, the practice of training your heart and mind to be here now – and thus, to be more kind, patient, and loving.
If you have ever thought to yourself, “I need to be more present,” or “I need some stress-relief,” or “I need to change some of my habits, “ then consider taking a few minutes to practice mindfulness.
